Arboretum Playscape

National Arboretum Canberra

Arboretum Pod Playground wins 2013 AILA Victorian Landscape Architecture Awards

Situated on a rolling hillside just outside Canberra, the National Arboretum is a new development with the purpose of preserving and showcasing significant and rare trees from around the globe.

Arterial was commissioned by Taylor Cullity Lethlean, the project landscape designers to conceive and detail play and interpretive elements for a forest focused children's play scape.

Primarily imagined as an adventurous natural environment catering to a wide age group, the emphasis was to be on having fun while discovering and exploring themes around forest life.

Interactive experiences were designed to encourage free spirited investigation involving both physical challenge and creative observation. Children are encouraged to use sound, smell, sight and touch to uncover forest secrets.
