This interpretive art installation exemplifies the use of imagery and evocative words to convey complex historic stories breaking away from traditional interpretive signage.
Arterial worked closely with the Light Horse Memorial Park Committee Group to realise their dream portraying the important past of the historic Australian Park, while remaining sympathetic to the landscape that they hold so dear.
The installations appear throughout the park representing important chapters of the park’s history. Each key date becomes a canvas as illustrations of a historic hut, soldiers and warhorses are laser cut into the layered numbers. As the sun moves through the park the dates cast shadows on the ground as light reveals more details in the laser cut scenes. Evocative words or phrases sit alongside the imagery, “We shall never pass this way again”. Emotion is never far away.
