When visitors enter the Hervey Bay Discovery Centre, they are immediately immersed in deep cobalt blue light which dances and shimmers around them. The 360-degree circular space holds a panoramic, six metre long video screen that reveals distant images of life-sized Humpback whales slowly emerging from the depths of the ocean. The enormity of these creatures, combined with the grace of their movement, is brought to life through the haunting sounds of the whale song. "I feel like I am under the water", offered our first visitors at the opening of the exhibition.
