Buddha’s Day & Multicultural Festival

Federation Square, VIC, Australia

2021

In response to the many challenging and diverse projects and to meet the changing expectations of audiences in the museum and heritage sector, Arterial have expanded their multimedia department and broadened their skill set in animation, 3D Graphics and interactive multimedia deliverables. This has resulted in the addition of a robust and extensive multimedia arm to Arterial’s already multifaceted capabilities.

Bespoke human-height lanterns designed by Arterial invited visitors and children to colour-in and embellish myriad flowers and vegetables aimed at promoting vegetarianism within and outside the Buddhist community. This was a highly interactive activity which complemented the botanical motifs explored in our projection. To promote and highlight the work, a photo competition was held throughout the weekend on social media. The response was overwhelming with many fabulous images being posted. Arterial would like to thank all those who so enthusiastically contributed to this inspiring and creative weekend.

Our international award winning team were delighted to be asked to light up the facade of Melbourne’s famous Federation Square for the 2021 Buddha’s Day and Multicultural Festival. The complex projection we devised flooded the square with botanical images, guiding viewers underwater, through emerging vines and up into the sky with eye-catching scenes that celebrate the birth of the Buddha.
